"Never before have I heard anything quite as wonderful!"

--Composer, Joe Harnell.

The Italian Saxophone Quartet was formed in 1982, bringing together four of the most established soloists in their field. In 1984 and 1985, they won several chamber music competitions and in particular, were awarded first prize in the ‘Premier Ancona’ by Goffredo Petrassi.

The ISQ plays repertoire from Scarlatti to Scott Joplin, Bach to Piazzolla, Glazunov to Greek dances, even Fellini film-score music by Nino Rota. Individually, group leader Federico Mondelci has appeared as soloist under conductor Seiji Ozawa. Marco Gerboni won first prize in the "Premier Ancona." Mario Marzi toured under conductor Zubin Mehta. Massimo Mazzoni has represented Italy at several World Saxophone Congresses.
