The Gainesville ProMusica Concert Series, Inc. has been a proud part of the rich musical heritage of the city of Gainesville since 1951. Maude Martin was the organization's first president, and was an active and devoted board member to what was then called The Gainesville Artist Series. The organization's current name was adopted in 1978, and later incorporated in 1993.
After the passing of long time executive director G. Jackson Howorth in late 2005, directorship of the organization was assumed by Jack A. Bell. Mr. Bell, formerly a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and professor at Georgia State University, is proud to be at the helm of an organization with a history of musical excellence, education, and commitment to broadening ProMusica’s audience. The executive director is supported by dedicated, volunteer board members from throughout the Gainesville community.
